The practice of converting farmland to forestland in Xichuan County of He'nan Provine in the last 2 years is analysed. The findings, including shortcomings, of this work are summarised. The research points out the significance of developing land for forestry in Xichuan County and clarifies the main aspects of this land use conversion in order to direct successful attempts.
