The correlation of extreme rainfall to eroded sediment transport is analyzed in detail based on the data of debris flows observed from 1965 to 2007 in J iangjia Ravine of Xiaojiang River basin and t he daily rainfall data collected from 1970 to 2005 in Huize station in the upper reaches of Yangtze River. Results from the analysis indicate that extreme rainfall events and rainfall amount in summer have a notably increased trend in the region since 1990s and M—K test presents a notably increased trend(confidence interval of 95%).The character has a close relation with the tendency of increased sediment transport in debris flows in the Jiangjia Ravine.
