Abstract:[Objective] In order to understand the morphological characteristics of erosion gully and its morphological changes in different time scales in rolling hilly region of Northeast China. [Methods] In this study, 61 typical erosion gullies in Guofu Town, Baiquan County were selected as the research object, and the digital elevation model was generated by aerial photography of unmanned aerial vehicles. The morphological parameters such as ditch length and section width-depth ratio were extracted by manual visual interpretation, and the development and change law and influencing factors of erosion gullies were analyzed by combining historical aerial photography data.[Results] (1) During 2003-2021, the erosion gullies in Baiquan County research area developed rapidly, and the types of erosion gullies changed greatly, and the gully changes significantly. (2) The average development and change rates of the gully length and area in Baiquan County are 9.64 m/y and 246.39 m/y, respectively. The overall morphological complexity of the gully presents a trend of first complexity and then simplicity, and the spreading speed of the gully bank is lower than that of the gully head, and the gully is long, narrow and irregular. (3) There is a certain correlation between the morphological parameters of the erosion ditches in the study area, and there is a positive correlation between the top width and the bottom width, the length and width of ditches, the perimeter and the length and width of ditches, and the area and the length and width of ditches, but there is no significant correlation between the length and width of ditches in the development process.[Conclusion] The research results can provide scientific basis and data support for the research on the development and evolution of erosion gullies in rolling hilly region of Northeast China.
