The necessity of systematically studying land degradation and its control from the point of view of sociall conomy was expounded. The main studied content of the sociall conomy theory of land degradation and its control is emphatically discussed, which are the study of sociall conomy causes and aftereffect of land degrada-tion, economic evaluation, macro-accounting，the study of ethical land use, the study of cost-benefit analysis of land degradation control, legistation and administration,economy prompting and social organizing.
