Physical concepts of the"soil erosion rates"in different scales,such as erosion rate for a point,for anerosion block of land,for a slope,for a catchment and for a region,and their relevant formula were given.Meanwhile,monitoring methods and calculating models for assessment s of those rates were int roduced.Suggestions forfuture monitoring and research works on soil erosion and sediment production were also proposed.
