    Abstract:

The self-organized process of slope developmentis discussed by the analysis of the characteristics of the whole process of slope development. Results show thatthe process of slope developmentcan be considered as an extensively dissipative dynamical complex system varying in time and space and has mass, energy, and information exchanges with external environment. The process of slope developmentrepresents a self-organized criticality(SOC) phenomenon far away from the equilibrium state. SOC is a dynamical attractor in the process of slope developmentand provides an evidence for minus power law between frequency of slope action and its strength. Based on this understanding,an analysis model for the reliability of slope safeguard system is constructed and the reliability of rockfall protecting nets in the railway section between Jinyun and Qingtian is analyzed by taking the slope rockfall as an example.
