Based on a large number of data, economical development and urban constructive situation of small and medium-sized cities in eastern part of Northwest China are studied by using comparative regression analysis and other methods. It is found that the eco-environmental problems consist mostly of urban soil and water loss, water resources shortage contradictory, insufficient urban g reen space, and local environment pollution. According to the specific circumstances, following countermeasures for the eco-environmental problems are proposed: carrying on the urban planning scientifically, combining characteristic economy with green economy, increasing the proportion of the ecological land, protecting water sources, and distribut ing water resources rationally.
