    Abstract:

The effect of initial water content on saturated hydraulic conductivity( KS10) and salt leaching of alkaline soil was researched using column leaching experiments in laboratory.Saturated hydraulic conductivity was measured at six different initial water contents. The results indicated that saturated hydraulic conductivity decreased with an increase in initial water content, showing a significant negative linear correlation. With an increase in initial water contents, the pH value decreased while electrical conductivity(EC)increased. The pH value in leachate increased but the EC decreased as the KS10 increased, both following logarithmic functions. In addition, the saturated hydraulic conductivity of alkaline soil and salt leaching efficiency decreased slowly in the condition of prolonged immersion.
